Prison bus accident results in one fatality, injuries to many

Crashes that involve commercial-sized vehicles often result in injuries or death. A recent bus accident occurred that led to the loss of one life and injuries to at least 20 others. A prison bus was carrying approximately 31 inmates when it reportedly collided with a pickup truck.

Officers were dispatched from the Texas Department of Public Safety to investigate the accident. It seems that the 24-year-old woman behind the wheel of the pickup truck failed to yield a right-of-way moments before the crash. The pickup apparently pulled out in front of the bus, and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the pickup truck that allegedly drove into the direct path of the bus did not survive her injuries. A recent update stated that 21 inmates on the prison bus suffered injuries in the crash. Approximately five different hospitals in the area participated in the effort to provide treatment for the accident victims.

When a Texas bus accident is believed to have been caused by driver negligence, an injured victim may seek compensation for damages by filing a legal claim in civil court. Such situations often include injuries that require repeated medical visits and physical therapy in recovery. This can lead to tremendous financial difficulties that may be alleviated through compensation provided in a successfully litigated claim. If the party deemed responsible for a crash suffered fatal injuries, a claim may still be filed against the decedent's estate. A first logical step in the process would be to discuss the details of the accident with an experienced attorney.
