Texas car accident leaves 1 dead and another injured

A Texas woman has been deemed responsible for a crash that recently occurred at the intersection of a highway and local road. The fatal car accident left one person dead and one person hospitalized.

The woman was headed home after work when she pulled out in front of a northbound vehicle on the highway. The woman was stopped at a stop sign and looked both ways before moving, but authorities believe that she did not see the car and was not paying close enough attention to traffic. Additionally, there is currently no reason to believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. This intersection is a common place for fatal accidents in Texas, and many of the accidents involve speeding by one of the vehicles involved.

Negligent drivers, including distracted drivers, are often cited as the cause for fatal accidents in Texas. Determining whether a driver is negligent involves looking at whether he or she disobeyed traffic signs, failed to signal or did not to exercise reasonable care in some way. The injured part may then examine the accident report to determine whether they have grounds to hold the at-fault driver accountable in civil court.

In some cases, the accident is not caused by the driver's negligence and it is important to be aware of these situations. Accidents can be caused by a defect in one of the vehicles involved. In this situation, the vehicle manufacturer may be held responsible under a product liability suit. Also, improperly maintained or designed roads or improper signage can cause fatal accidents as well. In those cases, the government entity responsible for road upkeep could be held liable. In order to file these types of claims, specific rules must be followed.
