NHTSA declares probe of Jeep SUV fires closed

It is not the resolution many safety advocates wanted, and some pundits say it may not really be the end of the matter. But as far as the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is concerned, the investigation into alleged fire risks in some 2.7 million Jeep SUVs is now officially closed.

Police report overnight fatal car crash in north Houston

It is supposed to get up into the 40s around Houston today. As cold as that is, it's likely to be greeted as welcome relief after temperatures dipped below freezing overnight. It's been so cold lately that schools in the region have closed or started late in recent days. Concern about ice on the roads even prompted local officials to close down High Occupancy Vehicle lanes for the morning commute this morning.

Rear-end crash involving Texas trucker under investigation

When it comes to accidents on the highway, the nightmare scenario for a lot of drivers is being struck by a massive semitrailer truck. Those who are in that vehicle most often are the ones who end up being seriously injured or possibly killed.

4 cars and a bus collide on I-35 in Texas

Anyone who drives during inclement weather has to make sure they are able to properly judge distances and road conditions. When a driver fails to do so, an accident can occur. Texas residents might be interested to learn about a multi-vehicle accident that involved a Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus.

Lawsuits seek damages for 'affluenza' driver's actions

A 16-year-old teen driver from a wealthy Texas family was sentenced to only probation for an accident that killed four and injured nine. The lenient sentence for the young drunk driver sparked nationwide outrage when a defense of "affluenza" was offered at trial through the testimony of a psychologist. The condition is supposedly one in which children from wealthier families lack a sense of responsibility and exhibit an assumption of entitlement. Surviving victims of the accident and the families of the dead are now pursing multiple lawsuits against the teen driver seeking damages for the carnage.
