Anyone who drives during inclement weather has to make sure they are able to properly judge distances and road conditions. When a driver fails to do so, an accident can occur. Texas residents might be interested to learn about a multi-vehicle accident that involved a Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus.

The bus accident occurred just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 23, 2013 on I-35. The accident involved four cars and one bus. The road conditions at the time were icy because of frost on the below-freezing roadway, but it is unclear if that contributed to the accident. Apparently, a Dodge Caravan tried to cut in front of the bus and hit the barrier. That caused the remainder of the vehicles in the accident to collide.

When the accident was first reported, it was stated that the bus was empty. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit issued a later statement that the bus did have passengers. A total of four passengers from the bus and three from the Caravan were taken to local hospitals with unknown injuries.

Other accidents, which were blamed on ice, were reported that morning prior to the bus accident.

Anyone who travels in inclement weather has to pay attention to what is going on around them. Failing to be vigilant when the road conditions are less than ideal can have dire consequences. If you or a loved one have been injured in a car accident or bus accident, you may have the right to seek compensation for medical bills and other costs. Seeking the assistance of an experienced Texas personal injury attorney can help you discover what avenues of compensation might be appropriate for your case.
