When it comes to accidents on the highway, the nightmare scenario for a lot of drivers is being struck by a massive semitrailer truck. When such accidents occur, the smaller of the two vehicles almost certainly will come out on the short end. Those who are in that vehicle most often are the ones who end up being seriously injured or possibly killed.
Victims of crashes in which a big-rig driver may be suspected of being at fault should make it a point to contact an attorney as quickly as possible. There can be many possible layers of liability beginning with the driver and extending to his employer and the hiring firm. Working with an attorney is the best way to ensure that essential evidence and information isn’t lost in support of a possible claim for compensation.
This may be something that is on the minds of those involved in a truck crash in Mississippi today.
Authorities say the wreck occurred this afternoon near the town of Tomnolen. They say a semi, driven by a 51-year-old Houston man, rear-ended a pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old male. A 20-year-old woman was a passenger in the pickup.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says the woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital and treated for injuries. The drivers of both vehicles were taken by private vehicles to the same facility, but they apparently escaped injury.
Authorities have not commented on how the accident might have happened. They say the matter is still under investigation. What has been confirmed is that the truck was hauling paper goods for a Florida company.
