Manslaughter counts filed against driver in fatal Houston crash

A lot of factors can contribute to causing a motor vehicle accident. In each case, especially in those in which someone is injured or killed, all the details deserve to be fully investigated in order to be sure that the facts are understood and that the person most responsible is held properly accountable.

This focus on the evidence can be just as important in a civil case involving a personal injury claim as it is in the prosecution of a criminal case. Very often, proceedings in both venues take place and the results of the criminal investigation become valuable material for the civil action.

The potential threat to your financial security and future well being that a car accident can cause serves to support the wisdom of contacting an attorney to learn about your legal options.

Whether this is on the minds of those affected by a deadly car accident earlier this month in the Houston area is not known. According to authorities, the crash occurred about 2:30 in the morning on State Highway 288 at the Airport Road exit. Four people in one of the cars were injured. Two of them died at the scene.

Police say a 24-year-old man was allegedly driving drunk at the wheel of a Cadillac. Witnesses reported that he was speeding and that as he approached the Airport Road exit, he swerved suddenly to get off the highway. He wound up clipping the rear end of the Honda Accord carrying two adults and two girls ages 15 and 2. One adult and the 15-year-old were killed.

The driver of the Cadillac suffered minor injuries. He is also now facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of assault. At the time this post is written, word is that the man is held in Harris County on $30,000 bond.
