Could 5-car accident result in wrongful death claim?

A chain reaction was recently set off after the driver of an SUV failed to stop behind another car that was trying to make a left-hand turn. Without an indicated turning lane, the Texas man was preparing to make a left-hand turn into his place of work when he was rear-ended. A wrongful death claim could potentially be considered by any surviving relatives, along with any criminal charges that might be filed in association with the car accident.

According to the accident report, an SUV ran into the back of the turning car and was followed by a second vehicle, an ice cream truck. The force of the collision pushed the vehicle into the opposing lane and oncoming traffic. The car was then hit head-on by a third vehicle, which was rear-ended by a fourth.

The chain reaction was sudden, witnesses ran to the aid of those who were injured, but there was little they could do but wait for emergency personnel to arrive. The employee attempting to turn into his workplace parking lot was critically injured in the accident and did not survive; two others were injured in the crash and the state of those individuals is unknown. The accident is still under investigation, and no charges have yet been filed in connection with the accident.

The mechanic shop closed for the day in honor of the employee who died in the crash. On behalf of the victim, the surviving family may have cause to file a personal injury claim for the wrongful death of their loved one. In Texas, financial compensation would assist the family with medical and funeral expenses related to the car accident.
