Consideration and paying attention can help to avoid car accidents and even further consequences. Texas drivers should be mindful that there are other vehicles that they could potentially collide with if they are not paying attention. A possible distracted driver may have been the cause of an accident that has recently turned into a lawsuit.
Allegations of unsafe driving were recently made in a lawsuit that was filed after an auto accident left one person with injuries. The Beaumont woman who filed the lawsuit claims that the other driver was negligent and that his negligence actually caused the car accident. She is seeking monetary relief, court costs and interest as well as any other relief that the court might find in her favor.
The accident was described as a collision that was caused by one vehicle turning from an inside lane on the roadway. That driver was apparently trying to turn onto a private drive across another lane of travel. The plaintiff asserts that the accident has left her with serious and permanent injuries to which she will have to treat with ongoing medical visits.
Far too many Texas accidents are caused by a distracted driver. When a traffic law is violated at the same time, the potential for a tragic outcome is heightened. Victims do have legal rights, however. Apart from any traffic violations or criminal charges that an allegedly negligent driver may face, our law provides for the right of car accident victims (including the surviving family members of a deceased victim) to make a civil claim for monetary damages based upon evidence that documents another party was negligent in causing the collision and injuries/death that resulted.
