Vehicle rollover accident in Texas kills 3; driver plus 1 survive

Most people do not know when and where they will die. Death came too soon for three Texas detention center officers who passed away in a recent vehicle rollover accident. The fatal accident apparently took place shortly after they clocked out and left work.

Five people were in a westbound SUV on I-10 when the driver apparently attempted to pass another vehicle by changing to the right hand lane. He reportedly overcorrected, and the SUV left the roadway and went onto the opposite side shoulder, then back onto the road. By this time, the driver apparently had no control, and the vehicle rolled over.

The three victims who died were apparently not restrained and were all ejected from the SUV. Each of them suffered severe skull trauma, causing their deaths. The driver and one other passenger survived the accident, possibly due to the usage of safety restraints. Both injured victims were rushed to the hospital, one by ambulance and one by helicopter. It was not immediately clear if the driver will be facing criminal charges as a result of the crash.

Family members of victims who have died in vehicle rollover accidents may wish to pursue justice against parties deemed negligent. If there is evidence to suggest negligence on the part of the driver, the surviving family members retain the right to file wrongful death claims in a Texas civil court. Successfully presented claims may result in a court award of monetary damages to cover medical and end-of-life expenses, as well as other financial losses brought about by the tragic accident. In a similar vein, the injured passenger has the right to seek financial redress through the filing of a personal injury claim against the driver.
