Driver charged for fatal SUV accident in Houston

Being involved in an SUV accident can create serious consequences, including physical harm and even fatalities to drivers and passengers. When alcohol use is introduced, it can create an even more hazardous situation. A person who has lost a loved one in a crash caused by another driver's negligence may feel anger and confusion as they struggle with their grief. A recent SUV accident in Houston took the lives of four people after two vehicles collided.

The nighttime crash occurred when a car was hit by an SUV that may have been running a red light. Authorities suspect that the driver of the SUV may have been intoxicated at the time of the traffic wreck. The car was full of people, all of whom were hurt in the crash. The driver of the vehicle that was hit and three of the passengers lost their lives as a result of the traumatic collision.

Records indicate that an additional passenger survived and was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment following the accident. Reports did not detail if the driver of the SUV suffered any injuries during the crash. Authorities have charged the driver of the SUV with intoxicated manslaughter for each of the four fatalities.

The consequences that accompany the choice to drink and drive can be devastating. The Houston SUV accident inflicted irreversible damage to multiple people and their loved ones. Family members of a person killed by another driver may pursue restitution against the party deemed responsible. A successfully completed claim may help cover unavoidable expenses and other damages permitted under our wrongful death law.
