Police say man attempted to flee fatal Houston crash

On Behalf of | Oct 7, 2014 | Car Accidents

A young man was recently charged for his involvement in a tragic Houston accident that took the life of another driver. The late night crash took place on a local toll road when two vehicles collided head on. Reports suggest that the young man driving a sedan attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him on the highway by maneuvering his vehicle into the lane next to him.

As he crossed into the opposite side of the road and into oncoming traffic, he collided with another car. The head-on impact between the sedan and the oncoming car caused them to collide with a sports utility vehicle as well. The passengers in the SUV were transported to a nearby medical facility where they received care and were able to be discharged.

The potentially pregnant female passenger in the car that was hit was also taken to the hospital for treatment of serious trauma. The driver of that car lost his life as a result of the accident. Immediately following the crash, the driver of the sedan ran away from the accident on foot. Authorities believe that the man may have attempted to pay another motorist to help him escape from the scene of the accident.

The man has been charged for intoxicated manslaughter, failing to render aid and stop for a fatal accident as well as intoxicated assault. Attempting to flee from a crash in Houston can have serious consequences. A person that has been seriously injured or lost a loved one as a result of the seemingly negligent choices made by another driver may choose to pursue legal action against the person deemed responsible.
