Making the decision to drink and drive can place other people that share the road at risk for being involved in a potentially fatal accident. A crash on a Texas freeway recently took the life of a passenger after the vehicle she was in was rear-ended by someone that may have been driving under the influence of alcohol. The devastating wreckage created by the fatal accident resulted in a three hour road closure with lengthy backup even after it was cleared.
The early morning accident took place hours before sunrise when a suspected drunk driver smashed into the back of another vehicle. Reports do not detail the speed at which the cars were moving or what may have caused the potentially intoxicated driver to hit the back end of the other car. Although records do not outline how many people were involved in the crash, the car that was hit carried a female passenger in the back seat.
The passenger suffered serious trauma as a result of the impact and was trapped in the car. Witnesses reported seeing the victim rescued by paramedics and physically removed from the wreckage. The injured woman was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of her injuries but tragically passed away.
Medical and funeral costs can be a burden to a Texas family that is experiencing the grief of losing a loved one unexpectedly in a fatal accident. Some people choose to pursue legal claims for restitution in an attempt to alleviate the any financial losses incurred. The family of a deceased victim may also feel it important to relay a message of intolerance for drinking and driving as they seek justice.
