Texas traffic light accident takes a life and injures others

When a Texas driver is patiently waiting at a red traffic light for his or her turn to proceed, the last thing he or she expects is to be rear-ended. In most situations, the combination of brake lights and a red light are enough to indicate to oncoming vehicles that traffic has stopped. However, when a driver fails to take notice or is unable to stop, that driver and other motorists can be seriously harmed.

On an early November evening, an accident took place at an intersection when a pickup truck reportedly slammed into two stopped vehicles. The two cars were waiting at a red traffic light when the moving pickup truck failed to brake as it plowed into the back of the vehicles. As a result of the jarring impact, two female drivers, one in each of the stopped vehicles, suffered serious injuries.

Paramedics transferred one of the victims to a nearby medical facility for trauma treatment, while the other woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was also badly injured and was transported via helicopter to a nearby hospital. Reports indicate that the driver of the pickup truck is not believed to have had alcohol in his bloodstream at the time of the crash.

When a person loses his or her life in a traffic accident, his or her family will be left with end-of-life expenses. In some cases, family members may also be left with medical expenses and lost household income due to their loved one's death. As a result, family members may choose to file a wrongful death claim with a Texas civil court against the negligent party that they believe was responsible for their loss.
