Motor vehicle accidents always have the potential to leave victims with injuries. However, the chance of serious injuries or fatalities increases when the accident involves a semi truck. A tragic truck accident recently took the life of a woman in Texas after her car was crushed under the front of a tractor-trailer.

On an early morning in late October, a pickup truck hauling a trailer was traveling down the road when a few empty plastic containers flew off the back of the trailer. A woman driving a car was traveling directly behind the pickup. When the driver of the pickup slowed to pull over, the woman in the car slowed as well.

The driver of a tractor-trailer traveling behind the woman is believed to have not noticed the vehicles slowing in front of him. As a result, the large truck smashed into the back of the smaller vehicle and then came to a stop on top of the car. The bulk and weight of the truck crushed the car, taking the life of the female occupant instantly. Emergency workers spent hours cutting through the wreckage to retrieve the woman.

According to the report, the driver of the pickup truck was unharmed and the operator of the tractor-trailer suffered only minor injuries. Reports indicate that, while charges have not yet been filed, authorities continue to investigate what may have contributed to the Texas truck accident. If it is found that negligence on the part of the semi-truck driver played a part in the accident, the family of the accident’s victim may choose to pursue wrongful death compensation.
