Texas chase ends in fatality -- wrongful death claim to come?

When a family loses a loved one as a result of an accident that was potentially caused by another motorist running from the police, they may have questions on how to best confront the situation. A person may seek answers regarding the events leading up to the fatality as well as any legal options that may exist on behalf of the deceased and his or her family. A young Texas man was recently charged for murder after the apparent wrongful death of another person resulted from his involvement in a police chase.

The incident took place when the accused man led authorities on a high speed chase across a Texas highway while driving a vehicle that was said to have been stolen. As the suspect continued through the highway and across busy intersections, he made the decision to barrel through a red light. As the driver moved through the intersection and into passing traffic, multiple cars became entangled in a fiery accident.

Reports indicate that around seven vehicles were involved in the catastrophic crash. The young man that initiated the police chase was thrown from his vehicle on impact and remains in critical condition at a local medical facility. One of the victims involved in the crash was also taken to a nearby hospital but tragically passed away before his arrival.

An unexpected death can leave deep financial burdens on surviving family as they face funeral costs and other expenses associated with the tragic crash. Grieving loved ones may look to Texas law for answers regarding their rights after the wrongful death of their family member. A person that desires answers and guidance regarding such a difficult and complex situation may benefit from the guidance and support of a personal injury attorney as they begin to investigate legal options.
