Excessive speed suspected cause of Texas accident

Investigators claim that excessive speed was most likely the cause of a collision on a recent Sunday night. One person died in the Texas accident and several others were injured. Alcohol consumption is also being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.

According to a corporal from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred west of  Brownfield on US-62. A vehicle driven by a 21-year-old male is reported to have slammed into the rear of another motor vehicle. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles careening off the road. They ended up overturned in a ditch.

A passenger traveling in the vehicle driven by the young man was able to escape just just before the car burst into flames, but, unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the site. The 42-year-old male who was able to free himself was taken to an area medical center for treatment of his injuries. Two occupants from the other vehicle were also injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The investigation of the Texas accident is ongoing. Authorities believe that the young driver's failure to control his speed was the primary cause of the crash.

Most state laws include a statute of limitations governing the amount of time a person has to file a personal injury claim in court. Because time is of the essence in such circumstances, one would most likely benefit from contacting a legal team in an expeditious manner after an accident. In cases in which the negligent party does not survive an accident, those injured may pursue litigation against the decedent's estate.
