The Department of Public Safety reported an accident that occurred in the early hours of a recent Wednesday evening. The Texas crash resulted in two deaths. Two survivors were also reported to have suffered serious injuries in the collision.

According to information provided by the Department of Public Safety, the tragedy began with a vehicle that was traveling on a rural strip of road in Freestone County. The driver of the car, which was heading west, apparently drifted across the lane and struck a sports utility vehicle that was traveling east. Reports indicate that the driver of the first vehicle seems to have caused the wreck when he over-corrected his steering as he began to lose control of the vehicle.

Sadly, the 21-year-old driver of the out of control vehicle and another 20-year-old occupant of the same car died at the accident scene. The SUV contained two people, and both were said to have suffered serious injuries. Both occupants were transported to a nearby medical center for treatment.

Typically, when a driver who is believed to have caused a crash that results in another person’s injury does not survive an accident, the injured victim retains a legal right to file a personal injury claim against the decedent’s estate. Legal professionals are available in Texas who have experience in handling SUV accident cases. Surviving victims who have suffered injury may wish to consult a legal team in order to examine available options insofar as seeking compensation for personal suffering, loss of wages or costs incurred through medical care is concerned.
