A recent tragedy occurred in Texas that involved a single-vehicle crash. One person suffered fatal injuries in the SUV accident. It appears that alcohol was a significant factor in the crash, and an arrest was made in the aftermath of the incident.
A 20-year-old woman was behind the wheel of the SUV. The vehicle was heading north on Interstate 35 just before the crash occurred. According to reports, the vehicle suddenly fishtailed and traveled along the top of an adjacent guardrail for a brief period of time. The vehicle then apparently went over the guardrail, became airborne and sailed over a chain link fence before coming to a stop on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Police stated that the man who was traveling in the passenger seat was killed when his head hit the pavement as the vehicle landed on top of him. The driver allegedly told police that she had consumed alcohol before operating the vehicle. She was arrested under suspicion of intoxicated manslaughter. The identity of the passenger has not yet been released.
The results of blood tests taken on the driver in the Texas SUV accident are pending. However, residents who are injured or suffer the loss of a loved one in similar circumstances sometimes choose to seek compensation for damages suffered by entering litigation in a civil court. In cases where an accident victim suffers a fatal injury, his or her immediate family members are permitted to file a legal claim on behalf of their deceased loved one.
