Driver in Texas fatal accident was wearing headphones

| May 27, 2015 | Wrongful Death

One life was lost in a recent vehicular crash in Texas. The driver believed to have caused the fatal accident did not suffer any injuries in the collision. State troopers responded to the tragic scene on Highway 83.

Troopers reported that a vehicle was headed in a northbound direction moments before the deadly accident occurred. The driver, a female, was apparently attempting to pass another vehicle on the road. During her maneuver to pass the other car, she appears to have veered across the center line into oncoming traffic.

The woman’s vehicle crashed head-on into a pickup truck. The driver of the truck was a 64-year-old male. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to investigators assigned to the case, the woman whose vehicle crossed the line had headphones on and was distracted while driving.

An immediate family member who has suffered the untimely death of a loved one in a fatal accident may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim in a Texas civil court on behalf of the deceased when the accident appears to have been caused by the negligent or reckless actions of another motorist. As part of a wrongful death claim, those filing may seek compensation for damages sustained as a result of the accident. Loss of wages, emotional pain and suffering, funeral expenses and any medical bills related to the crash that might have been incurred by the victim preceding his or her death are among the damages commonly included in such a claim.
