In March 2015, a tragedy occurred in Salado, Texas, involving multiple vehicles. The driver of a tractor-trailer is suspected as having caused the truck accident that resulted in the loss of one life and injuries to several others. The crash reportedly caused a bridge that was under construction to fall on motorists below.

The investigation into the fatal accident remains ongoing. According to reports, the 41-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer apparently struck the partially-constructed bridge on Interstate 35, causing it to collapse. A concrete beam from the bridge is said to have landed atop a pickup truck, killing its driver on impact.

Three other people, including the operator of the tractor-trailer, survived but suffered injuries in the accident. A senior state trooper said that the truck driver is suspected of being inattentive while behind the wheel. He also stated that the tractor-trailer was hauling an illegal-sized load. The interstate had to be closed for several hours while workers removed wreckage and debris from the scene.

In Texas, surviving family members whose loved one has been killed in a truck accident caused by another driver’s negligence retain the right to seek compensation for damages suffered in their tragic loss. If the deceased was a main bread-winner in the family, tremendous financial crises can result due to loss of wages after his or her death. Filing a legal claim with an attorney who has experience in motor vehicle accident cases can lead to court-awarded compensation that can help alleviate some the grieving family’s financial burdens.
