Texas fatal accident claims life of young mother

A Texas community remains in mourning in the aftermath of a recent roadway tragedy that claimed the life of one of its citizens. The fatal accident occurred on a recent Saturday Morning on the LBJ freeway. Reports indicate that drunk driving is the suspected cause of the crash.

Sadly, a young mother of two, who worked as a dispatcher for the Garland police department was killed in the accident. Her two children, traveling as passengers in her vehicle at the time, were both injured. According to reports, both children remain hospitalized. Police say that the fatal crash occurred when a wrong-way driver allegedly slammed into the woman's vehicle.

The decedent's 10-year-old daughter has been listed in critical condition. The woman's 9-month-old infant has been reported in stable condition and is expected to survive his injuries. The suspected wrong-way driver also suffered critical injuries in the collision and is slated to face two counts of intoxicated assault and one count of intoxicated manslaughter.

Texas law allows immediate family members who survive the victim of a fatal accident to file a wrongful death claim in a civil court when that accident has been caused by the fault of another motorist. In cases where an injured victim survives but is of minor age, a parent or legal guardian may pursue legal action on his or her behalf. A first logical step to take when considering filing a personal injury or wrongful death claim would be to contact an attorney in the area who has experience in motor vehicle accident cases.
