Texas U.S. 87 was the scene of a recent motor vehicle collision. The SUV accident occurred in front of a local convenience store. Texas DPS, the sheriff’s department and a volunteer fire unit all responded to the scene.

It has been reported that a vehicle was headed in an eastbound direction on the road when another vehicle allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way. That vehicle, instead, apparently attempted a left turn. This caused the two vehicles to collide. According to accident data, both vehicles sustained crushed front ends in the collision.

Several of the vehicle occupants were treated for injuries in the aftermath of the accident. Two occupants of one vehicle were able to be treated while still at the scene, but another person was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The airbags in the eastbound vehicle are reported to have deployed upon impact.

Officers at the scene issued a citation to the driver deemed at-fault in the SUV accident. Similar Texas accidents sometimes result in the need for ongoing medical care for one or more of the victims. This can amount to considerable medical bills and can add to the financial stress that might be caused by a recovering victim’s loss of wages due to his or her inability to return to work. It might be comforting to know that, in these situations, the injured parties may file a legal claim in a civil court in order to seek compensation for damages suffered during or after an accident.
