Tragic Texas truck accident results in the loss of 3 lives

The Texas Department of Public Safety has conducted a preliminary investigation into an accident that occurred on a recent Sunday. The fatal collision involved a tractor-trailer and an automobile. Sadly, the truck accident resulted in the deaths of three people.

A 62-year-old male was the operator of the big rig, headed east, when it reportedly veered across the lanes into the westbound flow of traffic. Early investigation results suggest that the driver of the tractor-trailer might have experienced some sort of medical episode moments before the crash. Upon entering the westbound lane, the truck struck an automobile head-on, then careened over the road, crashed through a fence and came to rest in a nearby field.

The car that was struck carried three occupants. A 25-year-old woman, 24-year-old man and 10-month-old baby were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Conclusive results of the investigation have not yet been made public.

Depending upon the circumstances leading up to a truck accident, injured victims are sometimes able to file personal injury claims in the aftermath of an accident. Texas law allows those injured at the fault of another to seek compensation for the damages suffered. Damages typically listed in a claim include, but are not limited to, emotional pain and suffering, medical bills and loss of wages. When an accident has resulted in fatalities, the immediate family members who survive the deceased victims are able to pursue litigation on behalf of the decedents. Any compensation awarded can be used to help cover costs of funeral expenses or pay medical bills for treatment that might have been rendered to the victims preceding their deaths.
