Though it is safe to assume that most motorists do their best to operate their vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner, collisions continue to occur on the nation’s busy roadways. In Texas, a recent truck accident resulted in the tragic loss of four lives. A police investigation remains ongoing at this time.

It was reported that a motor vehicle with four occupants was traveling in an eastbound direction on a recent Tuesday morning. Apparently, a tractor trailer  heading west suddenly veered across the center median and smashed head on into the small car. It was nearing 5 a.m. when authorities were called to respond to the scene.

A 50-year-old male, 51-year-old female, 23-year-old male and a juvenile male whose specific age was not published were in the vehicle when it was apparently struck by the massive truck. Sadly, three of them were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 23-year-old was transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency care but is reported to have later succumbed to his injuries as well. The unidentified driver of the tractor trailer and another occupant in the truck were treated at a medical center and released.

Police apparently obtained a search warrant for the tractor trailer, and the search results could lead to formal charges against the driver. When a Texas truck accident results in loss of life, family members who survive victims sometimes choose to file legal claims for monetary damages on behalf of deceased loved ones. Funeral expenses, medical bills from treatment rendered before death and other financial losses can bring undue financial stress to families who are already grieving their losses. Any compensatory award a court might order in a successfully litigated case, which must be based upon appropriate proof of negligence, could be used to help alleviate some of the costs associated with the accident.
