Car accident leads to lawsuit in Texas

The U.S. Postal Service has been named in a recent lawsuit regarding a motor vehicle accident that occurred in 2013. The car accident involved a postal vehicle and an automobile. The man who was behind the wheel of the car at the time of the Texas accident has filed the claim against the woman who was driving the postal truck and against the U.S. Postal Service.

The man claims that he suffered debilitating injuries as a result of the collision. The claim states that the postal worker failed to take evasive action in order to avoid impact. She is further accused of failing to keep a proper look-out and failure to apply brakes in a timely manner, among other things.

Some of the damages for which the man is seeking compensation include loss of wages, disfigurement, anguish and medical expenses. The amount being sought has been listed between $200,000 and $1 million. He is also requesting to be compensated for pre-judgement and post-judgment interest, as well as attorneys' fees.

When a motorist in Texas is injured in a car accident that is caused by another motorist's negligence, he or she is able to file a legal claim against that person in a civil court. A first logical step to take in the process would be to contact a legal professional in the area who has experience in personal injury cases. This would allow an attorney to provide an assessment of an individual case in order to discuss all available options and offer guidance as to how best to proceed when seeking financial relief for damages sustained in the accident.
