Motorist driving wrong way causes fatal accident in Texas

A tragic crash occurred on a recent Sunday in Texas. The fatal accident resulted in the loss of two lives. A vehicle was reportedly headed in the wrong direction on a toll road when the collision took place.

Reports indicate that a vehicle entered the toll road and was headed in a northbound direction in the southbound traffic lane. A county deputy who reportedly witnessed the dangerous situation unfolding is said to have used his lights and sirens to attempt to alert the driver from the opposite lane. The man behind the wheel of the wrong-way vehicle did not stop and subsequently crashed head-on into another vehicle.

Sadly, a 42-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that was struck in the accident was killed. His 15-year-old son, who was traveling as a passenger in his vehicle, and a 49-year-old woman whose car was hit by the man's vehicle after it was struck, were taken to area hospitals in the aftermath of the collision. The 29-year-old man who was driving the wrong-way on the road also died as a result of the crash.

In Texas, when an immediate family member suffers the untimely death of a loved one in a fatal accident caused by another motorist's negligence, he or she may file a wrongful death claim in a civil court on behalf of his or her deceased loved one. This allows the family member to seek compensation for any damages sustained, including but not limited to a loss of wages, loss of companionship, funeral costs and other monetary losses associated with the accident. There are experienced personal injury lawyers in the area who would be able to help guide one who is considering filing a claim through the legal process. In cases where the party deemed responsible has not survived the accident, a claim may be filed against his or her estate.
