Texas motorist charged after car accident, claims spider bit him

Texas highways are busy thoroughfares where motorists operating various types of vehicles share the road on a daily basis. A car accident that occurred during a recent weekend involved an automobile and motorcycle on which two people were riding. Police have reportedly filed charges against the man who was behind the wheel of the car at the time.

Apparently, another motorcyclist who was on the road when the accident took place captured the entire incident on video. It seems that the motorcyclist was attempting an unlawful pass of the automobile. The video evidence shows the car crossing over the double yellow lines of traffic and swerving into the motorcyclist and his passenger.

Authorities say that the man who seems to have caused the accident claims that he had suffered a spider bite that made him lose control of his steering. Public reports noted that the man, who has now been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, has a criminal history that includes convictions for reckless driving and terrorist threats. The 68-year-old is currently being held in jail with a set bond of $150,000.

Even if an injured victim in a Texas car accident is deemed somewhat responsible for an accident, he or she may still be able to file a legal claim in a civil court. In doing so, compensation can be sought for damages that were sustained due to another party's apparent negligence, so long as the claimant was not more than 50 percent responsible for the Texas accident. If considering filing such a claim, a person would be advised to consult an experienced personal injury lawyer in his or her area in order to discuss the details of the situation and obtain guidance regarding how best to proceed in court.
