Wife devastated as she witnesses fatal accident involving husband

Many Texas motorists enjoy traveling by motorcycle. On a recent Sunday afternoon, a man and his wife ventured out for a ride together, each riding a separate motorcycle. The events that followed have left the wife devastated and mourning the loss of her husband, who was killed in a fatal accident that day.

Apparently, the wife's motorcycle was traveling behind her husband's when she witnessed a truck enter the northbound lane from the southbound one, crashing head-on into her husband. She was able to avoid a second collision by maneuvering her motorcycle into a nearby ditch. Photographs taken by the wife at the scene included a beer can she claims the other driver tossed from her truck moments after the tragic crash.

The husband did not survive the accident. The other driver, a 36-year-old woman, was apparently drunk and texting at the time of the crash. She is currently being held in jail on a $25,000 bond.

If one is able, it is typically beneficial to document as many details as possible at the scene of a fatal accident in Texas or elsewhere. Such information can later prove helpful should a spouse or other immediate family member choose to file a wrongful death claim on behalf of a deceased victim. Clearly, no amount of compensation can replace the loss of a human life. However, beyond the grief that accompanies such tragedies, families are often offset by enormous financial debt sustained through funeral expenses, medical bills, loss of wages and other accident-related expenses. A successfully litigated case could provide compensation that can be used to help alleviate that burden.
