2 injured by suspected drunk driver in Texas

On Behalf of | Mar 4, 2016 | Car Accidents

Alcohol-related accidents remain problematic in Texas. A suspected drunk driver seems to have recently caused a collision that resulted in injuries to two women. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on a recent Thursday.

Apparently, a 68-year-old man was behind the wheel of a sport utility vehicle at the time of the terrible crash. His vehicle reportedly smashed through the  storefront of a liquor store. There were at least 25 people inside the store when the vehicle plowed through the glass wall.

A witness said one woman was completely covered in broken glass moments after the crash and was pinned underneath the sport utility vehicle. She was flown to a nearby hospital for emergency care and was listed in critical condition. Another woman was also injured and suffered a severe gash in her leg. That injured victim was also taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The driver of the car that allegedly crashed through the liquor store remained uninjured in the collision.

The driver now faces charges of intoxication assault with a motor vehicle. Police reportedly took him into custody at the scene. Anyone who has suffered severe personal injury due to a suspected drunk driver in Texas is able to seek justice in a civil court by filing a legal claim. Accident injuries often require long-term medical care and may prevent a victim from being able to return to the workplace, thereby causing loss of wages. Such losses can be recovered by court-awarded compensation in a successfully litigated claim.
