Texas police expressed surprise at the outcome of a terrifying, multi-vehicle accident. Serious car accidents involving several different vehicles often have fatal outcomes, but a recent collision involving six vehicles only resulted in injuries. The driver believed to have caused the wreck was among the injured.
The wreck occurred at about 9:30 in the evening, but police suspect that they might have had contact with the negligent driver earlier that same day. Local officers briefly chased a pickup truck for reasons that have not been made clear, but the driver was never apprehended, and the chase was ultimately ended. The driver then led police on another chase — this time on foot — after he stuck five different vehicles on I-27, causing serious damage and shutting down the highway. He was ultimately apprehended by K9 officers.
Multiple ambulances were required in order to transport the injured victims to an area hospital where they could be treated. At least one victim was listed in serious condition. The driver is in police custody while also being treated at the hospital for wreck-related injuries and a bite from a K9 dog.
The driver is facing several different charges related to wreck, including causing body injury with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Texas victims who have been injured in car accidents are often pleased to learn that negligent drivers have been criminally charged for their reckless behaviors behind the wheel, but it is often not sufficient to fully address their damages. In order to fully handle the wide range of emotional, physical and financial injuries suffered in a wreck, victims can utilize evidence collected by police in order to help successfully settle personal injury claims.
