This time of year often means family and gathering people together to celebrate the season. Unfortunately, traffic accidents here in Texas never take a holiday. Though a car accident is always an upsetting event, it can seem even more upsetting when it happens during a holiday weekend. This could be what several families are experiencing after a crash on Thanksgiving Day resulted in injuries for several people, one of them critically.
According to police, the crash happened in the early morning on Thanksgiving Day. An SUV was reportedly headed the wrong way on an exit ramp. The vehicle allegedly struck two other SUVs and a sedan before the driver brought it to a stop. The driver of the first SUV was injured but in stable condition. One of the other SUV drivers was also injured but also in stable condition.
The driver of the sedan suffered several injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A dog in the sedan died as a result of the crash. The interstate where the accident occurred had to be closed down for several hours as investigators worked to determine exactly what happened. There is no word on whether the first SUV driver will face any criminal charges in connection with the incident.
A car accident like this one can devastate a family as they deal with the lasting effects of the collision. The driver who was critically injured may need extensive medical care, possibly for the rest of his or her life. Those here in Texas who find themselves in a similar situation may want to consider filing a personal injury claim. Doing so may result in monetary damages that can cover documented items of monetary damages associated with the crash.
