Vehicle rollovers are some of the most devastating results of a vehicle crash. Force and catastrophic damage can lead to severe injuries or even death. A rollover in San Marcos shows us how even a single-vehicle incident can change the lives of nearly a dozen people.
According to the San Marcos Daily Record, high speeds and a blown tire contributed to a devastating rollover on northbound I-35. Eyewitnesses told authorities the vehicle left the highway, flipped several times and came to rest on the east access road.
Seat belts and overcrowding
Collision investigators suspect that only the driver wore a seat belt along the ride. They also determined the vehicle, fitting five adults and five children, was only suited for five passengers in total. Two adults have since died: one at the scene and the other at the Ascension Seton Hays Hospital. Emergency services took three of the children to Dell’s Children Hospital in critical condition and the other two to relatives after authorities determined they did not need hospital care.
The state of the hospitalized adults and children is unknown at this date.
Questions about compensation
With two dead and several in critical condition, this SUV rollover sets the tone for all 10 of these people’s lives and begs questions regarding liability and fault. Whose insurance handles each set of damages?
These kinds of important details put pressure on people that are already hurting. The last thing the injured want to think about during grief is where the money falls. But with patience and resources, the correct justice and compensation may come to light.
